LOT 485 1848 N-13 R4+ VF35. Sharpness EF40 or slightly better but there are small stains on the rims and a rim bruise at the N in UNITED. Glossy light olive and steel brown with tan in protected areas. LDS, die state b, with a strong rim cud over TES in STATES. Tied for CC#10 of the die state in the Grellman census.

LOT 487 1848 N-32 R5 VF20. Glossy medium brown. Smooth with minor marks including a couple nicks on the jawline, a light nick in the field before the eye, a spot of corrosion on the left top of the first T in STATES, and a reddish stain on the N in ONE. MDS with the usual die crack on the reverse. Tied for CC#8 honors in the Grellman census.

LOT 486 1848 N-16 R1 Repunched 184 AU55. Slightly sharper with a few hairline scratches on the portrait. The scratches are barely visible with a glass and the eye appeal of this piece is really nice. Glossy light olive and chocolate with reddish brown in protected areas on the obverse. Struck head-to-head with no rotation. The clashmarks inside the left part of the wreath are strong.
