LOT 466 1839 N-15 R5+ Booby Head VG8. Glossy medium brown with a spot of slightly darker reddish brown toning high on the neck. The surfaces are smooth and the details are close to VG10, but there are some minor contact marks. The notable ones are a rim bruise under star 11, a few small rim nicks at stars 5-7, and short horizontal scratches above and below ONE. None of these marks is distracting and the attribution points are clear.

Cherrypicked by Joe D’Agostino in the 1990’s-Thomas D. Reynolds 2/1/2013-John Pijewski (The Westwood Collection), Goldbergs 9/1/2019:306 (includes the Reynolds envelope, and Pijewski collection envelope, and the Goldberg lot ticket)

LOT 468 B. Max Mehl Star Coin Book in Fine Condition.

LOT 469 1840 N-4 R3 Small Date AU50+. Frosty medium brown with generous traces of mint red in protected areas, particularly on the reverse. A sharply struck cent that has great eye appeal, but there are some marks that do not catch your eye. These include three tiny spots of darker toning between the chin and star 1, a pair of light scratches down through the N’s in ONE CENT, and a dull rim nick at the second A in AMERICA. E-MDS, die state b, with clearly defined rim cud breaks from below the 18 around clockwise to star 3. The rim cuds and lumps under the date are strong. Looks mint state to the unaided eye.
