1794 C-4a NGC XF 45. Dark chocolate brown with smooth surfaces. A small scratch on Liberty’s lower nect to the right of her shoulder. The reverse is rotated 45 degrees CCW. From the scarce early states of these dies prior to any trace of the obverse clash marks before Liberty’s neck. Our grade XF 40. $9,500 Ex. Kevin Vinton.
LOT 9 1794 C-4a R3 Liberty Cap, Head Right, Small Edge Letters, EF40 ANACS. Glossy light to medium brown blending to light reddish brown in protected areas. The planchet is mostly smooth but there are small parallel planchet striation voids on the obverse, mostly near the dentils on the right side of the obverse. No corrosion or verdigris, only light wear and trivial contact marks including a tiny tick on the left foot of the A in HALF. Nicely struck E-MDS, Manley state 2.0, Fuhrman state 2, with die clashmarks on both sides but no swelling left of the date. Our grade is VF30 .
