1831 First Restrike Proof, Reverse of 1836, Breen 1-B R6-, Proof 63 Brown PCGS. Medium brown and light chocolate, delicately woodgrained on the obverse, and traces of original mint red in protected areas, mostly on the obverse. The obverse fields have moderately deep mirrors while the reverse fields, although smooth and attractive, are not as reflective. There are traces of carbon or crud nestled between the points on the right side of star 10 which can help identify this piece. MDS, Breen state II, with a meandering die crack that bisects the reverse. Softly struck on the face, over BER, at CEN, and on the wreath below, but the stars and legend outside the wreath are sharp. LOT 87 1832 C-1 R2 MS63 Brown PCGS, CAC Approved. Frosty light to medium brown and light olive with overtones of light bluish steel in protected areas on the reverse. The jaw is a slightly darker steel brown and this piece has very nice eye appeal. The only notable mark is a small vertical tick off the end of the chin. M-LDS, Fuhrman state 2. The die crack through the A in STATES is clear and it reaches through the tip of the leaf to the body of the leaf under the second T. Our grade is MS60.
