HALF CENTS

LOT 1 1793 C-1 R3+ Liberty Cap, Head Left, XF45 PCGS, CAC Approved. Very attractive glossy light chocolate brown. No corrosion or roughness, only light wear and trivial marks. A couple very tiny ticks on the chin, a small prick at the front of the eye, a speck of dark crud hidden inside the bottom of the cap, and a fine hairline under the denominator are the only notable marks. A small spot of slightly darker chocolate brown toning at the border beads right of the cap can help identify this piece. Rare LDS, Manley state 3.0, Fuhrman state 3, with a large rim cud break at F-AME extending from the border beads to the edge of the planchet. The rim cud consumed a lot of the planchet metal so the opposing border beads on the obverse are softly struck. In addition the central portion of the reverse is not fully struck due to minor die swelling causing the E & N in CENT to be quite weak. Both areas of weakness are normal for all seen in this die state. This is the fourth finest example with the cud break known to us. Our grade is EF40. 1000.45/90087795 $35,000 Ex James R.
