1796 C-2 R4 With Pole, AU58 PCGS. Frosty steel and chocolate brown with lighter brown and tan in protected areas. The planchet is smooth and the details are sharp. Close to mint state but there is a hint of friction on the highpoints. Just a few contact marks including a diagonal nick at the right bottom of the 9 and some small ticks low on the neck. The dentils on the left of both sides are weak (as usual), the product of dies that were out of proper axial alignment (the die faces were not perfectly parallel). A very nice example of the rarest date in the entire series of US Half Cents. Our grade is AU50.
