Torres Half Cent Collection

EARLY CENTS

LOT 20

1795 C-6a R2 No Pole, Thin Planchet, MS62 Brown PCGS. Frosty steel and olive brown with tan and light brown in the fields and protected areas. There is a puff of dark olive brown toning at the end of the curls below the cap, a small scratch hidden in the dentils below the 5, and a couple tiny marks at TY in LIBERTY. The date and devices are sharply struck but there is weakness in some of the dentils on both sides. EDS, Manley state 1.0, Fuhrman state 1, with no hint of swelling right of the Y. Struck over a cut-down Talbot Allum & Lee (TAL) Cent. Much of “CENT” from the TAL undertype is clearly visible below the date. Our grade is AU55. 35089.62/47303403 $25,000 Ex Chris McCawley 10/6/2024-The J. Torres Collection of Half Cents

LOT 21

1795 C-6a R2 No Pole, Thin Planchet, VF30 NGC. Glossy medium brown and golden tan with a swipe of light chocolate brown below the truncation. Smooth and void of notable marks, but there is some soft dirt caked into protected areas, especially along the profile and nestled around the leaves and fraction. HALF CENT is a bit weak but the date and other legends are strong. EDS, Manley state 1.0, Fuhrman state 1, with no swelling right of the Y. Our grade is VF20. A nice piece for the grade. 3412239-001 $3,850 Ex Heritage Auctions 11/8/2011:3015-Chris McCawley 12/17/2011-The J. Torres Collection of Half Cents
