LOT 289 1800 S-211 R3 VG8 Sharpness F15 but there a dozen scratches on the reverse, mostly inside the wreath. Otherwise nice with only minor marks and smooth surfaces. Glossy mottled mix of chocolate and lighter steel brown. LDS, Breen state VIII, with swelling on the obverse and die cracks on both sides. $450

LOT 290

1800 S-212 R3 F15 Sharpness at least VF20 but there is extremely faint roughness under the glossy dark olive brown toning. The roughness is strongest in the field behind the head. A small chip or nick midway between the throat and the rim can help identify this cent. MDS, Breen state III, with crumbling that connects the two 0’s in the date and a small “horn” up from the middle of the nose even with the eye. $1,450
