S-160
LOT 215
1798 S-160 R3 Small 8, Style I Hair F12 Sharpness VF20 but there is a corroded area left of the lower curls, a scrape out of the edge over ED, and three short scratches over ERI. A small pit under the Y and another over the left side of the N in CENT round out the defects. Otherwise the planchet is smooth and the eye appeal of this cent is decent, better than it might sound. Mostly glossy olive brown and chocolate with lighter brown toning on the devices. MDS, Breen state III. The date is bold and the legends are strong. A variety that is quite difficult to find in high grade. $750
