1808 S-277 R2 F15 Very slightly sharper but there is a minor abrasion at the top of the obverse and a light rim nick over the second S in STATES. Smooth and attractive with glossy medium brown and tan toning. MDS, Breen state VI, with swelling at TA in STATES that resulted in serious weakness on star 1, the so-called 12-star die state. A nice mid-grade Classic Head cent. $600

LOT 384 1808 S-278 R3 VF35 Slightly sharper but there is a fine diagonal scratch from the throat to the second 8 and a small patch of dark crud on the second S in STATES. Otherwise this cent is choice; smooth and attractive with excellent eye appeal. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with underlying flowline luster covering the fields and protected areas. MDS, Breen state III, with a depression inside the dentils from star 1 to star 4 and minor crumbling in the dentils under the 80. A very nice Classic Head cent. $5,500
