LOT 373
1807 S-271 R1 Comet Obverse NGC graded VF35 Glossy olive brown with lighter brown highpoints on the obverse. Looks smooth to the unaided eye but a glass reveals extremely fine granularity in protected areas mixed with a light dusting of very fine verdigris. A thin diagonal nick over the left top of the O in ONE is the only mark. MDS, Breen state V, with a clear “Comet” break in the field behind the head. A nice example of this popular “Redbook” variety. Our grade is net VF20. The attribution and Green Newman provenance are noted on the NGC label. $1,500

LOT 374 1807 S-271 R1 Comet Obverse F12 Sharpness near VF20 but there are some rim nicks and small rim dents, the strongest of these at RICA. The surfaces are smooth but there are traces of crud tucked around some the devices, mostly on the reverse. Rather glossy mix of olive brown and lighter chocolate with peeps of tan on both sides. MDS, Breen state IV. The “Comet” break behind the head is fully outlined but only partially raised. $500
