Torres Half Cent Collection

LOT 76 1811 C-2 R3 Repunched 8, XF45 PCGS. Very attractive glossy medium chocolate brown and steel. Frosty luster covers the fields and protected areas and this piece has excellent eye appeal, especially for this tough date. No roughness, only minor contact marks. The only notable mark is a small, dull nick off the left point of star 11. E-MDS, Manley state 2.0 early, Fuhrman state 2. There are fine die clashmarks on the obverse and the reverse is covered with nearly vertical die lapping lines that are found on the earliest strikes. The repunching at the lower left of the 8 in the date is clear. A premium 1811 half cent. Our grade is EF40+, close to EF45. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. 35242.45/34068456 $8,850 Ex Thomas D.
