1805 C-2 R5 Small 5, Stems, F12 PCGS. Attractive glossy light olive and medium chocolate brown. The surfaces are smooth and the eye appeal is excellent. Just a few minor contact marks from choice. The notable defects are a dull diagonal nick on the forehead and a diagonal hairline scratch in the field close to the hair under LIB. MDS with just a faint hint of swelling in the field before the portrait. The reverse is rotated 20 degrees CCW. The date and legends are strong. A very nice example of a rare variety that usually comes in low grades with significant defects. Our grade is VG10+, close to F1 2 (obverse VG10, reverse F12+). 25182.12/34061824 $7,750

1805 C-3 R4 Small 5, Stems, F15 PCGS. Glossy olive brown and steel with lighter steel brown toning in protected areas. The surfaces are smooth and there are only trivial marks including a dull nick on the front edge of the throat, two tiny ticks in the field before the lower lip, and two small struck through depressions at the bottom of the E in STATES. LDS, Manley state 2.0, with strong swelling in the field before the portrait. The date and legends are strong but portions of HALF CENT are softly struck, as usual. 1805 C-4 R2- Large 5, Stems, MS62 Brown NGC. Attractive frosty medium olive and chocolate with tan and light brown in protected areas on the reverse. Satiny and very attractive with mint state eye appeal, but there is a trace of rub on the highest points of the devices. Just trivial marks including a couple light nicks on the portrait, a couple more marks in the field before the neck, a dark spot on the left side of the O in OF, and a small spot of lighter reddish brown toning at the top of the 00 in the denominator.
