LOT 51 1804 C-13 R1 Plain 4, Stemless Wreath, AU58+ PCGS, CAC Approved. Lustrous light olive and steel brown with traces of golden tan faded down from mint color in protected areas. Satiny and very attractive with a few marks including a dull but obvious nick left of the lowest curl and a line of tiny ticks in the hair left of the ear. EDS, Manley state 1.0, Fuhrman state 1, with partial dentils on both sides and a weak strike on the left edges. The dies appear to have been set with the faces not in perfect parallel alignment when this die pair was placed into service; later corrected. 1805 C-1 R2- Repunched 5, Stemless Wreath, MS63 Brown PCGS (OGH). Lustrous light greenish olive with puffs of olive brown. Frosty and very attractive. The notable marks are an area of darker olive brown toning near the dentils before the mouth and a spot of similar toning at the C in CENT. Both sides are covered with a very thin layer of “Care” or a similar protectant. MDS with lightly flowlined fields and small rim cuds on the reverse, the largest one off the right end of the wreath ribbon. The repunching at the top of the 5 is sharp. This is the plate coin for Breen’s die state III in his 1983 half cent encyclopedia (page 260). Our grade is MS60+. Housed in an older generation PCGS holder. 1801.63/40388002 $7,250 Ex Jack H.
