524 Documented and Researched Group of Hero of the Soviet Union Guards Colonel Strobykin-Uhvit Nikolay Nikolaevich. Strobykin-Uhvit Nikolay was a career Soviet Air Force officer. Started service in 1940, but by 1941 managed to graduate from Kherson city military pilot school. Actively participated in Patriotic War since 1943, mostly at the 2nd Ukrainian front. During WWII, distinguished himself as skillful shturmovik pilot, who successfully flew 129 combat missions in the famous IL-2. By decree of May 15, 1946, “For outstanding bravery in air combat against Nazy Germany during WWII” he was bestowed with the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, with GOLD HSU Star #2876. After the war, graduated from Military Academy. Retired in 1963. Died on August 19, 1995. Group comes with: • GOLD Hero of the Soviet Union Star. Type 2. Award # 2876. • Order of the Red Banner #88169. Crude re-conversion to screw and back, most likely by veteran. • Order of the Red Banner #16401, 2nd Award. • Order of the Red Banner #4248, 3rd Award. • Order of A. Nevsky #30823. • Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class #113695. • Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class #464724 (1985 issue). • Order of the Red Star #3516570. • Medal for Combat Service (unnumbered). • Orders Book with all of the above entries. Only missing order of Lenin that came with the Gold Star. Orders Book for 1985 Jubilee order of the Patriotic War 1st Class #464724. • 11 Jubilee medals with 10 corresponding Certificates (30 years of RKKA is missing). • Medal for 20 years of Irreproachable Service with Certificate. • ID book for military pilot 2nd class. • 3 pilot’s badges. • 7 original photographs of the veteran, including him receiving his Hero Star in Kremlin, Moscow. Complete research from the archives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (includes English translation). Massive file of newspaper clippings and other published materials, containing information about comrade Strobykin-Uhvit. Some include photo. About 60 scans of original newspapers and other paperwork pertaining to the veteran. Condition: Suspension device on the Gold Star exhibits loop repair, the Star itself shows normal wear only. Other orders are in pristine condition, with excellent enamels throughout and only small signs of wear.
