1215 Domitian, (AD 81-96). Gold Aureus (7.75 g, 19mm), AD 82. Rome. IMP CAES DOMITIANVS AVG PM, laureate head right. Reverse: TR POT IMP II COS VIII DES IX PP, Cuirassed bust of Minerva left, wearing a crested Corinthian helmet and aegis. No spear. RIC 138var. Minerva was Domitian’s patron goddess. Calicó 937, BMCRE p. 304, note 33, Cohen 608. Rare . Well-centered and finely detailed; good lustre. In NGC holder graded AU ; Strike 5/5; Surface 4/5; brushed.
