Deep olive-green. Good Very Fine. In the past this coin has been attributed to a Macedonian locale and the portrait identified as either Brutus or Caesar; while RPC has argued for a Syrian or Cilician origin and suggested the portrait is that of Octavian. Recent find evidence points to an origin in northern Asia Minor, while the portrait is likely that of Mark Antony’s general Gaius Sosius, who was questor in 39 BC and Governor of Syria in 38 BC, where Antony supported Herod against his rival Antigonus.
