Reverse: Horse right, Pahlavi ‘pylwc abay’ (‘victorious Abay’) above. Gyselen Type 62. Dark olive brown over minor roughness. Very Fine.

1255 Ilkhanid. Abu Sa`id (AH 716-736 / 1316-1335 AD). Heavy Gold Dinar (8.80 g), madinat al Sultaniyya al-Ma’mura AH 717. Type B. Kalima in a pointed octagon. Reverse: Ruler’s name, titles and blessing in pointed hexagon. Album 2194. On this rare issue, the mint, the Ilkhan capital of Sultaniya, includes the epithet ‘well-populated city’. In NGC holder graded MS 61 .
