LOT 157 1828 N-3 R3 PCGS graded MS64+ Brown, CAC Approved . Lustrous light olive and brown with delicate overtones of sea green and light bluish steel. Sharply struck with satiny surfaces and great eye appeal. All the stars have full radial lines. There is a small swipe of darker steel toning under star 8 and a wisp of similar toning in the field right of star 3. The only notable contact marks are a line of small ticks from the tip of the chin to the bust. The reverse is choice. MDS. The earlier arc line at the dentils at OF-A is gone but the dentils are strong. Graded MS60 and tied for CC#2 in the Noyes census, his photo #26940. LOT 158 1828 N-4 R4 PCGS AU Details, Cleaning . Glossy light to medium brown blending to medium olive brown in protected areas. Traces of very faded red and maroon show in protected areas, a result of an old cleaning. The surfaces are smooth and the only significant marks are a scratch over star 1 and some nicks between that star and the date. MDS. Graded EF45 net VF35 and finest known in the Noyes census, his photo #28844. Our grade is EF45 sharpness net VF35. This is the Noyes plate coin for the variety in his 1991 reference on the cents of 1816-1839 (where graded EF40). Not a perfect cent but clearly the best of only 8 examples graded above Fine by EAC grading standards. 36883.92/30812866
