Terry Denman Collection of Middle Dates Part 1
THE TERRY DENMAN COLLECTION
LOT 107 1822 N-9 R5- PCGS graded AU53 . Glossy reddish olive brown and steel. Lightly worn with smooth surfaces and minor contact marks. A thin diagonal nick on the bust tip and another off the lower left point of star 9 are the notable marks. Rare M-LDS, die state c. The die crack at TES is strong and the area outlined by this crack is slightly raised as a retained cud. Not the latest state because this retained cud is not raised as much as seen on a few examples (see the next lot). This is the Newcomb plate coin for the variety, both the obverse and reverse (Plate III for obverse #9, Plate IV for reverse H). Called EF40 and tied for CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says VF30 and tied for CC#2, his photo #20810. Our grade is VF35+ . 36736.53/13094340
