Terry Denman Collection of Middle Dates Part 1
EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
1819 N-8 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown . Frosty mint red mellowing to steel brown, at least half the mint color remaining, mostly on the reverse. The steel toning is more dominant in the field just right of the lower curl and right of stars 3-4, and there is a small spot of darker toning touching the nose at the eye and another close over star 5. The surfaces are lustrous and this cent has excellent eye appeal in spite of the minor spots. M-LDS, die state b, with weakened dentils and fine die flowlines on both sides. The earlier die lines joining the bases of TE in UNITED and AT in STATES are gone. Called MS61 and tied for CC#5 in the Noyes census, photo #21704. Our grade is MS63+, close to MS64. 36650.64/13094644

MOSTLY RED N-9 EX NAFTZGER
LOT 74 1819 N-9 R1 MS63 . Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown on the highpoints with 75% of the original mint color remaining. There are a few small spots of darker toning on the reverse including a larger spot of reddish olive toning under the first T in STATES. A glass reveals a tiny pit in the center of that spot. Otherwise this cent would rate a higher grade. LDS, die state b, with flowlined fields and weak or missing dentils on both sides. The repunching over the R in AMERICA is quite faint, nearly gone, but the portrait is quite sharp. Most likely from the Randall Hoard of mint state cents. Called MS63 and tied for CC#3 in the Noyes census, his photo #35138.
