LOT 10 1816 N-8 R3 Repunched 8, PCGS graded MS62 Brown . Frosty light to medium brown with satiny luster covering the protected areas. A small spot of reddish chocolate toning on the bust tip and a few faint hairline scratches under the line below CENT are the notable defects. EDS, die state a, before any rim cud breaks on the obverse. The obverse is slightly misaligned to K-10 while the reverse is reasonably well centered on the planchet. Called AU55 net AU50 and tied for CC#3 in the Noyes census, his photo #21244. Our grade is AU55. 36544.62/13079739

LOT 11 1816 N-8 R3 Repunched 8, PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown, CAC Approved . Beautiful frosty mint red fading to lustrous bluish steel brown, at least 20% of the mellowed mint color remaining, mostly on the obverse. The surfaces are satiny and virtually flawless. A small tick left of star 9 and a speck of darker toning near the dentils midway between stars 11 & 12 are the best identifying marks. M-LDS, die state c, with strong rim cud breaks at stars 8.5-10 and 11-12. The terminal rim cud at stars 3-4 has not formed as those dentils are clearly visible on this example. The repunching over the left top of the 8 is weak but still visible. A bit softly struck on the right sides while the left sides are fully impressed, the result of the die faces not being in perfect axial alignment (die faces not parallel). Otherwise this piece is a gem. A beautiful cent, finest known of this scarce die variety. Our grade is MS64. 36545.64/15104750
