LOT 414 1850 N-27 R4 VF25+. Frosty light olive and steel brown. Smooth with light wear and no notable marks. MDS.
Ex 1992 ANA Bourse dealer-J. R. Grellman-Walter Dudgeon, McCawley & Grellman Auctions 7/30/1994:378 (includes the Dudgeon collection envelope and lot ticket) LOT 415 1851 N-2 R1 ANACS graded EF45. Glossy light brown with frost in protected areas. Smooth with light wear on the devices. The only marks are a tiny chip right of star 2 and a couple ticks over star 9. EDS, die state a. The die line at the throat is visible. Our grade is VF35. 5299291 LOT 416 1851/81 N-3 R1 Overdate 51 over Inverted 18, ANACS graded AU53. Frosty light to medium brown. Sharply struck and very attractive. The only mark is a light scuff on the leaf under the U in UNITED. EDS, die state a, with die lines in the obverse fields. The 51/81 feature is strong. A nice example of this “Redbook” variety. Our grade is AU50. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. 7537298
LOT 418 1851 N-5 R2+ ANACS graded MS63 Brown. Lustrous light olive and medium steel brown with traces of faded mint red on both sides. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and it has excellent eye appeal. The only marks are a tiny flake in the field under the right side of star 4, a barely visible scuff on the top of the N in ONE, and a dull tick on the bottom of the first A in AMERICA. Otherwise this cent is choice. MDS, die state a. The fields are covered with fine radial die flowlines but the obverse is uncracked. Our grade is MS62, tied for CC#7 in the Grellman census. LOT 417 1851/81 N-3 R1 Overdate 51 over Inverted 18, ANACS graded VG10. Glossy light to medium brown. No defects, just worn. MDS, die state b. The 51/81 feature is still clear but the earlier die lines in the obverse fields are gone. Our grade is VG10. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. 7537309

LOT 419 1851 N-8 R3- PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Lustrous bluish steel brown and olive with traces of faded mint color on the reverse. Satiny and nearly flawless with superior eye appeal. The only marks are a small diagonal tick high on the neck under the ear lobe and a nick on the rim below the end of the wreath stem. VLDS, die state b late. The die line over the M is gone and there is a fine but clear die crack connecting stars 6 & 7. First example seen with the die crack. Our grade is MS60+, tied for CC#4 in the Grellman census.
