A small nick over the N in CENT and a tiny chip on the rim under the end of the wreath ribbon can help identify this cent. LDS, die state b. The die lines over AMERIC are gone. Our grade is AU50. LOT 388 1849 N-30 R5+ NGC AU Details, Environmental Damage. Attractive glossy light chocolate brown. The surfaces are smooth and quite attractive with two exceptions: a patch of microscopic granularity at the tip of the coronet and another smaller area of fine porosity off the lower left point of star 4. No verdigris, only light wear and trivial contact marks including two small nicks on the chin. E-MDS, die state a. Our grade is VF35+ sharpness net VF30, tied for CC#10 honors in the Grellman census. NGC was correct to identify the “Environmental Damage,” but this cent barely qualifies for the unfortunate distinction. 3226957-026
