LOT 387 1849 N-29 R2 ANACS graded EF45. Glossy steel brown and chocolate. Smooth with a few small marks including some ticks or planchet flakes on the cheek, a nick on the nose, and a very tiny rim bruise at star 4. MDS. Our grade is EF45 sharpness net VF35. LOT 390 1850 N-1 R2+ ANACS graded AU55. Frosty light steel brown. Sharp with only tiny contact marks. A small nick over the N in CENT and a tiny chip on the rim under the end of the wreath ribbon can help identify this cent. LDS, die state b. The die lines over AMERIC are gone. Our grade is AU50. LOT 388 1849 N-30 R5+ NGC AU Details, Environmental Damage. Attractive glossy light chocolate brown. The surfaces are smooth and quite attractive with two exceptions: a patch of microscopic granularity at the tip of the coronet and another smaller area of fine porosity off the lower left point of star 4. No verdigris, only light wear and trivial contact marks including two small nicks on the chin. E-MDS, die state a. Our grade is VF35+ sharpness net VF30, tied for CC#10 honors in the Grellman census. NGC was correct to identify the “Environmental Damage,” but this cent barely qualifies for the unfortunate distinction. 3226957-026

LOT 389 1850 N-1 R2+ AU58. Mint state sharpness but dipped and retoned frosty bluish steel and olive. Satiny and sharp, void of any marks or other defects. EDS, die state a, with fine die lines from the dentils over AMERIC.
