EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 300 1839/6 N-1 R3+ Overdate 9 over 6, ANACS VG10 Details, Corroded. Light chocolate brown with steel brown toning on the highpoints. Covered with fine to moderate granularity, strongest under the N in CENT. The only notable mark is a dull nick on the rim at the first S in STATES. E-MDS, Grellman state b early, with a dull wave in the field from the dentils under star 4 to the nose. The overdate feature is clear. Our grade is F12 sharpness net G6. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. 7464422

LOT 303 1839 N-10 R3 Booby Head ANACS AU55 Details, Corroded. Frosty light to medium steel brown with a few small spots of reddish olive brown, mostly on the reverse. Sharply struck and attractive; calling this cent “Corroded” is technically accurate but a bit severe. A few of the dark spots, especially the one under the ribbon loop and the smaller one under IC, do contain traces of microscopic roughness and verdigris. But overall this cent has nice surfaces. Otherwise a dull nick on the rim at star 13 is the notable contact mark. MDS. Our grade is net EF45. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. 7464420

LOT 304 1839 N-14 R3 Booby Head, ANACS EF45 Details, Corroded. Frosty light olive and steel with traces of very faded red in protected areas on the reverse thanks to an old cleaning. There are a few spots of darker toning at stars 8 & 9 but this cent is not “Corroded.” Perhaps they intended to code it as “Cleaned” and missed. MDS, Grellman state a late. The bar down from the dentils over the R in AMERICA is visible. Our grade is net VF35. 7330809 LOT 305 Trio of Cents, 1839 & 1840. Includes 1839 N-14 R3 Booby Head F12, 1840 N-10 R2 Large Date G6, and 1840 N-12 R1 Small Date G6. The last is sharper with defects. Lot of 3 coins.

LOT 301 1839 N-2 R2 Head of 1838 ANACS graded EF40. Frosty light olive and steel. No roughness or contact marks, just light wear. A tiny planchet flake in the dentils under star 1 is the best identifying mark. LDS, Grellman state b. The earlier die lines on the reverse are gone. Our grade is VF35 . 7330813
