EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 252 Group of 5 Cents, 1816-1820. Includes 1816 N-8 R3 AG3, 1817 N-9 R2 LDS with Mouse G6, 1818 N-7 R1 EDS VG7, 1819 N-6 R1 VG10, and 1820/19 N-2 Overdate Small 20 over 19 G6. A couple are slightly sharper with defects but all have a clear date. Lot of 5 coins.

LOT 249 1814 S-295 R-1 Plain 4 NGC AU53 CAC Approved. Chocolate and tan browns with a tiny carbon spot above star 5. There are also a short pinscratch in the field left of stars 10 & 11, and another under 14 in the date. Sharply struck with all stars showing radial lines, smooth lustrous surfaces. Breen Die State IX with the light die break from star 11 through the end of truncation and 8 to the lower rim, as well as crumbling at star star 11 and the throat line. Our EAC grade is EF45+.

LOT 253 1817 N-1 R4 PCGS graded XF45. Frosty olive brown and steel. Flowline luster shows in the fields and protected areas. No roughness or verdigris, just small contact marks including two small nicks under the ear. M-LDS, Grellman state b, with two die cracks on the obverse. Our grade is net VF35+. 1594.45/84022998

LOT 250 1816 N-3 R4 ANACS VF25 Details, Corroded. Glossy medium brown and chocolate. Mostly smooth but there is minor roughness in parts of the fields on the obverse. Otherwise smooth with trivial marks and no verdigris. Looks much better than the word “Corroded” might suggest. MDS. Our grade is VF20 sharpness net F15 . The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. 7537305

LOT 254 1817 N-3 R2 ANACS graded EF40. Frosty chocolate and lighter brown. Just trivial marks including a small planchet flake off the upper right point of star 3 (as struck), some faint hairlines on the obverse, and a small area of fine roughness at star 9. None of these marks is visible to the unaided eye. LDS, Grellman die state c, with a “Mouse” break on top of the head. Our grade is VF35 sharpness net VF30. LOT 251 1816 N-8 R3 VF25. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Smooth with very nice eye appeal. The only mark is a small rim nick under star 10. Nicely struck EDS, Grellman state a, before any crumbling in the dentils on the obverse. Removed from an NGC slab graded VF30 (NGC label #308039-020 includes, and it shows the attribution and Jules Reiver Collection provenance).

LOT 255 1817 N-4 R3+ ANACS graded AU50. Very attractive glossy olive brown and chocolate with lighter brown in protected areas on the reverse. Frost covers the protected areas and this cent has excellent eye appeal. Smooth with minor marks including a diagonal nick on the cheek. E-MDS, Grellman state c, with a strong die crack through the bottom of the date and another down to the dentils from under the right side of star 1. Our grade is EF40. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. 7781358
