LOT 499 1856 N-8 R3+ Upright 5, PCGS graded MS64+ Red & Brown. Lustrous mint red mellowing to bluish steel brown with 80% of the mint color remaining. Satiny and quite attractive with just a couple minor marks. A spot of darker steel brown toning at the tip of the coronet and a speck near the dentils under the wreath are the only notable marks. Sharply struck E-MDS, die state b, with a faint die crack at ME. Our grade is MS64+, very close to MS65 and CC#3 in the Grellman census. 403967.64+26560607

LOT 501 1856 N-13 R2 NGC graded AU58. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Smooth with a few small marks including a dull one under star 1 and another between star 5 and the forelock. MDS, die state b. The die lines connecting the N’s in ONE CENT are incomplete. Our grade is EF45. 3514598-005 

LOT 500 1856 N-10 R1 Upright 5, PCGS graded AU55. Frosty light to medium brown with steel brown toning on the highpoints. No defects, just light friction on the devices. LDS, die state c. The die lines from the dentils over the R in AMERICA are gone. Our grade is EF45+, close to AU50. 1919.55/28653230

CONDITION CENSUS LATE STATE 1856 N-13

LOT 502 1856 N-13 R2 Italic 5, VF35. Glossy light to medium brown with frost in protected areas, especially on the reverse. Slightly sharper but there are some small contact marks including a dull nick on the top of the C in CENT and a few small ticks under the adjacent E. LDS, die state d, with a very strong rim cud from star 10 to star 11. CC#7 for the die state in the Grellman census. Comes with a nice provenance.
