N-4 WITH CUDS

LOT 490 1855 N-4 R1 Upright 55, AU55. Choice glossy medium brown with frosty mint luster covering the fields and protected areas on both sides. Looks mint state but there is a trace of friction on the highest points. A faint hairline left of star 11 is the only notable mark. Rare LDS, die state f, with a series of 4 strong rim cud breaks over STATES. Removed from an old PCGS holder graded MS63BN (old green PCGS “rattler” label #01907.63/9105760 included).

LOT 491 1855 N-12 R1 Upright 55, PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Lustrous light olive and steel brown with very subtle overtones of sea-green. Satiny and very attractive with a couple peeps of faded mint red on the obverse. Just a few microscopic marks including two dull, tiny ticks on the rim left of the date and a small nick hidden on the right side of the ear. MDS, die state b. The fields are lightly flowlined and the earlier die lines at the inner curl are gone. Our grade is MS60. Housed in an old PCGS “Rattler” slab. 01907.64/6039605

LOT 492 1855 N-12 R1 Upright 55, ANACS graded AU55. Frosty light to medium steel brown with a couple splashes of darker reddish brown toning at ONE into the wreath to the right. Satiny luster covers the fields and protected areas. LDS, die state b. The earlier die lines at the inner curl are gone. Our grade is net EF45+. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. 7301841
