SESSION TWO SELECTIONS FROM FRED BORCHERDT’S HALL OF FAME COLLECTION

LOT 531 Pair of Cents, 1851 & 1853, grading EF40. Includes 1851 N-12 R1 LDS (old Newcomb #11), and 1853 N-14 R3 MDS with a rim cud from below star 11 to below star 12. The 1853 is slightly sharper with a small rim bruise. Both are attractive glossy brown and chocolate. Lot of 2 coins. From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection

LOT 534 1855 N-3 R1 Upright 55 MS60+. Frosty light olive and medium brown with 10% of the planchet showing mint red, mostly on the reverse. Sharp and attractive. A tiny tick on the eyebrow is the only mark. LDS, die state b, with flowlined fields. Ex George Ramont-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection (includes the Ramont collection envelope)

LOT 532 1854 N-10 R2 AU55. Frosty medium brown with mint luster covering the fields and protected areas. Looks mint state but there is a hint of friction on the highest points of the devices. LOT 535 1855 N-6 R3- Upright 55 EF45. Glossy light to medium brown with frost in protected areas. Smooth and void of notable marks. E-MDS, die state a late. LOT 533 1854 N-26 R3 MS60. Glossy medium reddish brown with traces of light greenish olive on the lower half of the reverse. Sharply struck and void of contact marks, but there is a trace of fine powder nestled up against stars 5-7. MDS.

LOT 536 1856 N-14 R1 Italic 56 AU55. A mint state cent with excellent eye appeal, but there is a fine scratch at the NE in ONE continuing to the right of the F in OF.
