LOT 501 1837 N-13 R2 Plain Hair Cord AU55. Lustrous tan with traces of mellowed mint red on both sides. Looks mint state with great eye appeal, but there is a trace of friction on the highest points of the portrait. The only notable mark is a dull vertical nick right of the upper lip. MDS, die state b. LOT 505 1838 N-1 R1 Repunched 1 EF45+. Glossy medium brown with mint frost in the fields and protected areas. Sharp and very attractive; a single light nick over the N in CENT is the only notable mark. Close to AU50. MDS, die state c, with a clearly defined rim cud at star 1 and a tiny one under the 18. LOT 502 1837 N-14 R2 Plain Hair Cord EF40. At least ten points sharper but there is a light scratch in the field left of stars 11 & 12 and traces of verdigris on the reverse, mostly at ED in UNITED. The obverse is frosty tan and steel brown with hints of very faded mint color in some protected areas. The reverse is a darker shade of glossy chocolate and olive brown. MDS. From the Fred H. LOT 506 1838 N-2 R1 AU50. Frosty light brown mixed with some swipes of steel brown. Lightly worn with very little friction on the devices and mint luster in the fields. The only mark is a very light rim bruise over star 9. EDS, die state a, with a sharp inner circle at the dentil tips below 183. The doubled center dot on the reverse is strong. From the Fred H. LOT 507 1838 N-3 R1 EF40. Glossy golden tan with steel brown toning on the highpoints. Lightly worn with great eye appeal. The only notable marks are a couple small nicks on the rim at star 3 and a tiny rim nick right of star 9. EDS, die state a. The parallel

LOT 503 1837 N-15 R3 Plain Hair Cord F15. Slightly sharper with several fine scratches inside the wreath and a few very light scratches on the obverse. Glossy light brown with medium brown on the highpoints. A streak of darker brown toning from star 2 to below star 12 is a good identifying mark. M-LDS, die state c, with die cracks on both sides. LOT 508 1838 N-4 R2 VF35. At least 10 points sharper with very light wear on the devices, but there are areas of light coppery toning on both sides. The vast majority of the toning is a very attractive frosty medium brown but there are areas of lighter coppery toning on both sides. The only contact marks are a pair of very light scratches in the field before the neck and mouth. LOT 504 1837 N-17 R4 Plain Hair Cord F15. Significantly sharper but there are rim bruises on both sides, strongest at ICA, and a strong vertical nick right of the nostril.
