LOT 493 1837 N-5 R2 Plain Hair Cord, Small Letters VF25. Glossy chocolate brown with lighter brown highpoints. Smooth with minor marks including two light nicks on the cheek. M-LDS, die state c. The fine die line connecting the I & T in UNITED is gone. From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection

LOT 489 1836 N-4 R3 EF45. Frosty tan and light brown with wisps of darker steel brown toning on the obverse. The wisps of darker toning affect the eye appeal of an otherwise very nice cent that shows just a bit of wear on the devices. LDS, die state c, with a narrow rim cud from star 1 to star 2. LOT 490 1836 N-7 R4 Gobrecht Head VF25. Ten points sharper with small nicks scattered over the obverse. The reverse is nicer, nearly choice with just a few microscopic marks. Glossy light brown with medium brown on the highpoints. MDS, die state b, with a die crack on the reverse but no cud break. Ex John D. Wright-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection

LOT 491 1837 N-1 R1 Plain Hair Cord EF40. Glossy dark olive brown and steel with frosty lighter brown and tan in protected areas on the reverse. Smooth with just a few trivial marks including a tick on the jaw. E-MDS. From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection

LOT 494 1837 N-6 R2 Plain Hair Cord AU55. Glossy golden tan and light brown. Sharp and very attractive with just a light touch of friction on the highest points of the devices. Sharply struck with trivial contact marks including a dull diagonal nick over the bust tip and another in the field before the nose. EDS, die state a. The die lines near the berries below TE in UNITED are sharp and the fields on both sides are slightly reflective. A nice cent that comes with a nice provenance.

LOT 492 1837 N-4 R2 Plain Hair Cord VF30. Slightly sharper with an area of microscopic roughness under star 1 and the date; otherwise choice glossy light brown blending to olive in protected areas. No significant contact marks.. From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection
