SESSION TWO SELECTIONS FROM FRED BORCHERDT’S HALL OF FAME COLLECTION TERMINAL N-8

LOT 460 1831 N-8 R3 Large Letters VF20. Five points sharper but there is a dent on the E in CENT and a minor rim bruise under the 18. Otherwise void of notable marks. Glossy chocolate brown and steel. Rare Terminal die state with a large, fully raised cud break connecting TED-S to the rim. Graded VF30 net F15 and finest of the die state in the Noyes census, his photo #26418. From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection LATE STATE N-9

LOT 461 1831 N-9 R2 Large Letters VG7. Glossy medium chocolate with lighter steel brown on the devices. Smooth with nice eye appeal but there is a dull scrape on the lower part of the outer segment of the hair bun. Rare LDS, die state g, with internal raised cud breaks at stars 3-5. Only a half dozen in this die state are known to us. Graded VG8 net VG7 by Noyes, his photo #32037. From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection

LOT 462 1831 N-10 R3 Large Letters VF30. Glossy medium olive brown with flowline frost covering the protected areas on both sides. Lightly worn with the surfaces of a higher grade, but the strike is weak, as usual. Essentially flawless, and the eye appeal of this cent is quite nice. LDS, die state c, with a narrow rim cud at star 9 and a die crack at the top of the reverse. From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection
