LOT 458 1831 N-6 R1 Large Letters VF30+. Glossy light olive brown. Sharply struck and attractive with the details of a slightly higher grade, but there are a few minor contact marks, mostly on the jaw. Sharply struck EDS, die state a, before any crumbling in the dentils on the reverse. Close to VF35. From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection

LOT 455 1831 N-2 R2 Medium Letters VF35. Glossy brown and light chocolate mixed with olive brown on the reverse. Specks of darker olive brown toning are scattered over the obverse. Only trivial contact marks, none notable. E-MDS, die state a, before any dentil crumbling on the obverse. The repunching right of the second S in STATES is clear.

LOT 456 1831 N-3 R1 Medium Letters VF30. At least ten points sharper but there is microscopic roughness in the fields on the obverse; the reverse is smooth and frosty. The obverse is glossy dark olive brown and steel with reddish chocolate in some of the protected areas. The reverse is frosty tan with steel brown on the highpoints and peeps of faded mint red in a few places. Like two different cents. Just trivial contact marks. MDS with lightly flowlined fields and complete dentils around both sides. From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection

LOT 459 1831 N-7 R1 Large Letters EF45. Glossy tan and light steel brown with darker steel brown on the highpoints. The fields and protected areas are frosty and the only notable mark is a splash of dark steel and olive brown toning at stars 2-4. E-MDS, die state a, before crumbling in the notch on the right side of the R in AMERICA. There is a double profile on the forehead. From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection

LOT 457 1831 N-4 R3 Medium Letters VF25. Glossy chocolate and lighter steel brown woodgrained with lighter brown on the obverse. Smooth with a few nicks on the face and in the field off the end of the nose. MDS, die state a, with an uncracked obverse. From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection
