EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 447 1830 N-2 R2 VF30. Ten points sharper but dark with a scuff of lighter toning on the very highest points of the obverse. Glossy dark olive brown with microscopic hints of roughness under the glossy toning. A rim nick at the E in UNITED is the only mark. MDS, die state b, with a radial crack from star 13 to the dentils in addition to the always-present cracks through the date and stars.  From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection

 ROTATED REVERSE

LOT 448 1830 N-3 R3 F15. Considerably sharper but covered with very fine roughness and specks of verdigris under glossy dark olive brown toning. The highpoints are a lighter shade of chocolate brown. The notable marks are a dull nick on the rim at star 4, a larger one at the E in UNITED, and a small one at the second S in STATES. MDS with the reverse rotated 140 degrees CCW. LOT 449 1830 N-4 R2 EF45+. Glossy tan and light brown with steel brown and chocolate toning on the highpoints. Mint frost covers the fields and protected areas and this cent has really nice eye appeal. Sharply struck with very light wear on the highpoints. A choice cent with great eye appeal. The only mark is a tiny rim nick over the second S in STATES. MDS, die state b, with an additional die fine die crack from the right top of the E in UNITED to the dentils.
