LOT 429 1828 N-3 R2 VF25. Ten points sharper but retoned glossy steel and chocolate brown. Smooth with a few light marks including a couple thin streaks of planchet impurity on the obverse (as struck) and some faint hairline scratches in the field before the portrait. MDS. From the Fred H. LOT 426 1827 N-11 R1 EF45+. Glossy light olive and steel. Lightly worn with flowlined fields and radial lines in the stars. Just a few small marks including a trio of nicks high on the neck at the jawline. LDS, die state c, with crumbling at the forehead and upper lip. Ex George Ramont 9/1976-William C. Noyes-Fred H. LOT 430 1828 N-4 R4 F12. Partly glossy light to medium brown. The highpoints are smooth but very fine granularity covers the fields and protected areas on both sides. LOT 427 1827 N-12 R5 F12. Glossy chocolate and steel brown with smooth surfaces and minor contact marks. A light diagonal nick on the bust can help identify this cent. EDS, die state a, with an uncracked obverse. Ex James E. Long 10/12/1989-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection

LOT 431 1828 N-5 R2 EF40. Glossy mix of light brown and reddish olive brown. Ten points sharper but there are some light scratches in the field before the portrait, and the uneven toning is a distraction. There are small traces of verdigris or dirt in a few of the protected areas. E-MDS, die state b, with a fine die crack through TED. LOT 428 1828 N-2 R2 VF35. Glossy light brown with slightly darker steel brown on the highpoints. Would rate a slightly higher grade but there is a nick on the center of the cheek and three fine scratches in the field before the mouth. From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection
