TNA May 2026

THE OFFICIAL AUCTION OF THE TEXAS NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION FRIDAY, MAY 15 th 2026, 5 PM CDT SELECTIONS FROM PHIL DAVIS AND PHIL HYDE

PHIL HYDE’S BIO Phil grew up on a farm in Missouri. Besides the usual livestock, crops, and wildlife, the entire farm was also an archaeological site. There was an abundance of quarry stone there which was used in the manufacture of prehistoric stone tools. This led to ancient people living on and in the farm’s vicinity as early as 12,000 years ago. Growing up in this type of environment, Phil was very fascinated by archaeology and the history there so he pursued these themes in his higher education and early career. It was his interest in history that nurtured his coin collecting, as he found coins to also be wonderful artifacts of history. Phil’s Large Cent Collection is his favorite part of his coin collection, with it being the oldest and most historic of any of them. He found holding each of his older coins brought about these intriguing questions: Who held this coin and when? Where did it travel to and from? What did it buy?
