EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 175 1804 S-266b R-2 AG3. Slightly sharper but there are a couple notable scratches on the reverse above ONE and through UNITED, as well as notable rim nicks below the fraction and over T D in UNITED. Glossy olive brown with deeper steel in some fields and protected areas. Reasonably smooth, faint granularity revealed under a glass. The legends on the left reverse are wearing into the rim but the date is easily readable.  Ex; Phil Hyde

LOT 172 Trio of Draped Bust Cents 1801-1803. Lot of 3 Coins. Includes an 1801 S-224 R-1 EDS graded VG10 net VG7 for nicks and light roughness, an 1802 S-231 R-2 E-MDS Breen state III graded F15 net VG10 for fine roughness, and an 1803 S-251 R-2 graded F12 net VG8 for light corrosion and granularity. All sharper with minor surface issues. Ex; Phil Hyde

LOT 176 1804 S-266c R-2 G6. A couple points sharper but cleaned long ago and now toned mostly attractive light brown with subtle bluish steel overtones. There are a couple pits before the nose and traces of dark scale in some reverse protected areas. Bold date, weaker along the tops of UNITED STATES but full legends. LOT 173 1802 S-230 R-3 VG7. Fine sharpness but cleaned and now toned steel brown and artificial red with microscopic roughness on the surfaces, There is also a notable scrape through U in UNITED up to the ribbon and a nick on the rim at the first S in STATES. LOT 177 1804 S-266c R-2 G6. A couple points sharper but Covered in moderate, uniform roughness on both sides. Free of notable marks. Dark chocolate and dark steel browns. STATES is a bit weaker but readable, and the remaining legends and date are bold. Ex; Phil Hyde

LOT 174 1803 S-247 R-5 Mumps Obverse F12. VF25 sharpness but there is very light microporosity visible under a glass, scattered pits on the reverse, and the surfaces have been cleaned. There are also some dull hairline scratches on the neck and in the right obverse field. Now toned medium olive and dark steel browns with underlying faded tan and artificial red. LOT 178 1804 S-266c R-2 G4. Cleaned and now toned artificial red and steel. There are a few minor rim bruises on the obverse, otherwise only trivial marks. The legends along the left reverse are wearing into the rim, but the remaining legends and date are bold. Ex; Phil Hyde
