EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
LOT 16 1798/7 S-152 R2 Overdate Large 8 over 7 G6. Rather glossy chocolate brown and steel. Just minor marks commensurate with the grade including a nick hidden in the hair below the ribbon, a small chip at the dentils right of the D, and nick over the right top of the N in ONE. The date is strong and the overdate is clear. E-MDS with a subtle wave in the field under the hair ribbon but no crack.
LOT 13 1798 S-149 R4+ Large 8, Style I Hair AG3. A couple points sharper but there is a dull, strong scratch across the neck, a small punch high on the cheekbone, a fine diagonal scratch from the neck through the lower curls, and a rim bruise at E in UNITED. Minutely rough under slightly glossy steel brown and darker olive brown toning. There is a blob of lacquer near the dentils before the chin. On the plus side the date is strong as are most of the legends. EDS.

LOT 17 1798 S-154 R4 Large 8, Style I Hair G5. Glossy light olive and chocolate. A small punch at the top of the N in CENT is the only notable mark. The date and legends are complete and strong. EDS before any swelling.
LOT 14 1798/7 S-150 R5- Overdate Small 8 over 7 G4. A couple points sharper but covered with fine roughness and there are myriad light scratches and specks of verdigris on both sides. Mostly chocolate brown. LDS with swelling at OF-A. The date is bold.
Ex Bob Wilson-Gary Smith Collection (includes the Smith collection envelope)
LOT 18 1798 S-154 R4 Large 8, Style I Hair G5+. Slightly glossy steel and chocolate brown. A bit dull from microscopic granularity but the eye appeal is nice for the grade. No notable marks or other defects. MDS, Breen state II, with obvious swelling on the reverse that nearly obliterates TED and AME. The details in the unswollen areas on the reverse are consistent with a much higher grade. Removed from a PCGS slab graded G06 (PCGS label #1431.06/37279947 included).
LOT 15 1798/7 S-151 R3 Overdate Small 8 over 7 G4. Glossy steel brown with chocolate in protected areas. Smooth with minor marks, just worn. LDS, Breen state VIII, with obvious swelling on both sides. The date is bold and the overdate is visible to the unaided eye.
