EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 185 1827 N-10 R4+ G5. A few points sharper but dark with light roughness, strongest on the reverse. No verdigris but there are some contact marks including a rim bruise at stars 7-8 and more at ICA and the N in UNITED. Partly glossy dark olive brown and steel with lighter steel brown on the obverse devices. The date and legends are complete and clear.

LOT 182 1827 N-6 R3 VF20. Five points sharper with a rim bruise at the E in STATES. Otherwise smooth and choice with attractive glossy medium chocolate brown toning. The die line from star 12 to the dentils is strong.

LOT 183 1827 N-10 R4+ F15. Glossy olive with lighter brown in protected areas. The only notable defects are a trace of microscopic carbon in the field before the mouth and a very light rim bruise at the bottom of the reverse. A decent example of this tough die variety. Graded net F15 by Del Bland.

LOT 186 Pair of Very Scarce 1827 Varieties. Includes N-10 R4+ MDS VG7, and N-12 R5 MDS G4. Both are glossy brown and chocolate with nice eye appeal, just worn with minor marks. Lot of 2 coins.

Both are from the McCawley & Grellman Long Beach auction 9/13/1997, lots 174 & 176. The N-10 was earlier from the M&G 1/11/1992 auction, lot 175 (two lot tickets included)

LOT 184 1827 N-10 R4+ VG10. Slightly sharper but there are a few very light bisecting scratches on the obverse that intersect just left of the ear. Mostly smooth but there is microscopic roughness around OF AMER. Glossy steel brown with subtle overtones of light bluish steel, possibly retoned. MDS with the usual crumbling at the brow and tucked under the nose.

LOT 187 1827 N-12 R5 G6. Glossy light chocolate with slightly lighter brown on the devices. Smooth with some small contact marks. The notable marks are a nearly vertical nick over star 1, a minor rim bruise left of star 5, and a light rim bruise at ST in STATES. MDS with a die crack up between the 1 & 8 in the date. The date and legends are complete and clear.
