Rothchild Counterfeit Houston Money Show Auction January 20, 2024

LOT 166 1825 N-8 R3 F15. Sharpness VF30 but there is a dull scratch on the rim at AT in STATES. The surfaces are mostly smooth but a glass reveals traces of microscopic roughness on the reverse. Glossy steel and olive brown. LDS, Grellman state e, with fine die cracks and dentil crumbling on the obverse.

LOT 167 1825 N-10 R3 EF40. At least 10 points sharper but the obverse was very lightly burnished and nicely retoned glossy reddish brown and chocolate. The reverse is choice frosty light steel brown blending to light chocolate at the top. Sharp and quite attractive. The only notable mark is a nick at the left top of the second T in STATES. EDS, Grellman state a, without any die cracks or cuds. The reverse looks mint state.

LOT 169 Group of Five 1826 Cents grading AG3 to G6. Average grade is G5. Includes N-1 R2, N-3 R3, N-4 R2, N-7 R1, and N-8 R2 Overdate 6 over 5. Some are very slightly sharper with minor defects but all have a clear date. Lot of 5 coins.

LOT 168 1825 N-10 R3 F15+. Glossy light to medium brown with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Smooth with only trivial contact marks. Nicely struck EDS.

LOT 170 1826 N-4 R2 AU55. Lustrous light olive and steel brown. Satiny and quite attractive with just a hint of friction on the highest points of the devices. No spots, stains, or notable marks. MDS.
