EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 39 Trio of Cents, 1798-1800. Includes S-185 R2 Small 8 with Style II Hair LDS AG3, 1800 S-200 R3 LDS AG3, and 1800 S-201 R4+ LDS AG3. All are brown and chocolate with a readable date. Lot of 3 coins.

1798 WITH INDENT ERROR

LOT 41 Group of 5 Cents, 1798-1854. Includes 1798 Style II Hair AG3, 1800 Basal State-1 with a faint date, 1800/79 Overdate with cud breaks along the bottom of the reverse AG3, 1850 VF20, and 1854 F15 net VG8 for marks. All but the first 1800 have a clear date. Lot of 5 coins.

LOT 40 1798 S-187 R1 AG3. Glossy steel brown and chocolate. Smooth and attractive for the grade, just well worn. There is an indent error on the planchet at K-8 on the obverse and the obverse is struck slightly off center to K-3. Indent errors occur when two planchets overlap during striking (see page 844 in the 2000 Breen encyclopedia on the cents of 1793-1814 for a detailed explanation). Later die state with cracks and die failure at ICA. The date is clear and the legends are readable.

LOT 42 1800/798 S-191 R3 Overdate 800 over 798 Style I Hair G5. Glossy steel brown and light chocolate with darker olive brown in protected areas. Smooth and nice for the grade, just worn. LDS, Breen state VII, with cracks and swelling on the reverse. The date is clear and the legends are readable.
