1798 S-170 Small 8, Style II Hair VG7 A point or two sharper but recolored glossy medium steel brown and light chocolate. The surfaces are smooth except for minor roughness on the right side of the reverse where there are traces of raised verdigris. EDS, Breen state I, without any die cracks or clashmarks. $250

LOT 230

1798 S-170 Small 8, Style II Hair VG8 Sharpness near VF20 but rim bruises show all the way around the planchet, and there have been crudely smoothed. A dull nick on the rim behind the head may help identify this cent. Otherwise the surfaces are nice with attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate toning. E-MDS, Breen state II, with fine die clashmarks but no cracks. $350
