LOT 221 1798 S-165 R4 Large 8, Style II Hair VF20 Sharpness near VF30 but there are a half dozen fine scratches in the field behind the portrait. Otherwise quite nice, especially for this variety, with smooth surfaces and only minor contact marks. Glossy medium brown and darker olive brown with the darker shade dominating both sides. MDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks on both sides but no cracks. In addition there is a rim cud involving at least 3 dentils over ME. The date and legends are strong and the second T in STATES clearly shows it was first entered inverted, then corrected. At the lower end of the condition census for the variety.
