1804 S-266b R5 VG7 Slightly sharper but there are several light rim bruises around both sides and a few old scratches hidden in the toning on the reverse. A small planchet lamination at the left side of the M in AMERICA can help identify this cent. Mostly glossy olive brown with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. M-LDS, Breen state III, with a cud break at RTY and a die crack through MERI but no cud break on the reverse. Struck with the reverse rotated 35 degrees CCW. The date and legends are complete and clear. $4,000

1804 Private Restrike EF45 Partly glossy light brown with darker chocolate brown toning in protected areas. The planchet displays many of the usual tiny imperfections associated with this restrike. No contact marks, just very light friction on the highpoints. LDS with die cracks on both sides. Struck with the reverse rotated 15 degrees clockwise. An attractive, lightly worn example of this non-mint product made circa 1860 using scrap mint dies, the obverse from 1803 S-261 and the reverse from 1820 N-12. $750
