1803 S-255 R1 VF25 Ten points sharper with too many light contact marks for the higher grade. The notable marks are a fine scratch from the cheek to the shoulder, a small dig left of the L in LIBERTY, and a tiny scratch under the right end of the wreath ribbon. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate. LDS, Breen state IV, with a cud break at STA that connects ST to the rim. $950

LOT 352 1803 S-256 R3 VF25+ Sharpness near EF40 but there is a fine scratch from the eye to the shoulder and the right side of the 1 below, another very light scratch that meanders through the field before the neck, and some nicks on the throat. The marks do not catch your eye and the toning is an attractive frosty light chocolate brown and steel with lighter brown and tan in protected areas. LDS, Breen state V, with a cud break over STA touching only the T and an arcing die crack through the bust and 8. Comes with a nice provenance. $1350
