Lot 94 1814 S-295 R-1 Plain 4 VF20. VF35 sharpness but lightly corroded with a mixed steel, olive, and green patina. There are also a handful of small pin scratches in the left obverse field and a longer one from star 3 through Liberty’s chin to the hair. Rather glossy surfaces. Lot 95 1814 S-295 R-1 Plain 4 G4. A point sharper but there are a couple corrosion spots on the reverse from ES in STATES down to the wreath and at NT in CENT. Smooth medium to dark brown surfaces otherwise. The only other notable detractions are a minor lamination below the date and a rim bruise on the bottom reverse. Lot 96 1814 S-295 R-1 Plain 4 F12. VF25+ sharpness but there are several bruises and nicks along the rims of both sides, most notably below the date and near stars 6 and 7. There is also a more recent scrape on the ribbon and the field above it revealing the red underneath the glossy dark chocolate brown. LDS, Breen state XII, Smith state 11. $ 340 Ex; Thomas D.
