PLATE COIN FOR EAC, PW, MORLEY, AND NOYES

LOT 72 1794 S-62 R4+ Head of 1794 VF30 . A sharp, very attractive cent with choice glossy medium chocolate brown toning, but there is a rim dent at TA in STATES. The surfaces are smooth and the only additional marks are a barely visible rim bruise below the lowest curl and a low spot below EN in CENT (as struck). Scarce EDS, Breen state I, Heck state 2, with no cud on the obverse but with sharp die clashmarks at the denominator and adjacent A. The obverse is plated in Early American Cents, Penny Whimsy, and in the 1979 Morley reference. Both sides are plated in the 1991 Noyes reference. Graded EF40 and CC#2 in the Bland census. Noyes says VF35 and tied for CC#2 overall but finest of the early die state., his photo #20693. Comes with an important provenance--as you would expect. Ex Colonel E. H. R. Green-Green Estate-B. G.
