HECK PLATE COIN

LOT 69 1794 S-59 R3 Head of 1794 Fair-2 . Mostly glossy chocolate with lighter brown on the highpoints. Heavily worn with fine scratches at the date and stronger ones at the bottom of the reverse. The date is quite faint and no more than half of the devices on the reverse can still be made out. Tare terminal die state, Breen state VI, Heck 9, with a large, bold cud break at the bottom of the reverse. This is the plate coin for the die state in the 2022 Heck reference. A n ugly example of a very impressive die state. Noyes lists only two examples of this die state in his census: this coin and a “Scudzy” AG3 in the ANS Collection. Not much from which to choose.
