Ex Denis W. Loring 8/1980-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection

1794 S-58 R3 Head of 1794 F12 . Glossy light brown with darker chocolate in protected areas. Mostly smooth but there are some tiny pits in the field below the cap. The notable contact marks are some very faint scratches lost in the toning on the neck and into the hair, several tiny ticks left of the C in CENT, and a minor rim bruise at the E in UNITED. Appears to be coated with a thin layer of wax or lacquer resulting in highly glossy surfaces. Looks better than it might sound. M-LDS, Breen state III late, Heck state 6, with a strong die crack through UNITE to the rim at both ends. Ex Herman Halpern, Stack’s 3/1987:131-Fred H. Borcherdt-Dr. Bruce M. Reinoehl-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection
