CONDITION CENSUS S-51

1794 S-51 R4 Head of 1794 PCGS graded AU53 . Very attractive glossy light olive and medium brown. Smooth with just minor marks including a tiny rim nick at the I in LIBERTY, another light nick in the field off the chin, one other the A in STATES, and a tiny rim bruise at the first A in AMERICA. Only the rim bruise catches your eye. Nicely struck EDS, Breen state I, Heck 1, with an uncracked obverse. Graded VF30 and tied for CC#7 in the Bland census. Noyes says VF35 net VF30 and tied for CC#6, his photo #25875. Our grade is VF30. HECK PLATE COIN

1794 S-51 R4 Head of 1794 AG3+ . Glossy medium steel brown with darker olive brown in the most protected areas. The surfaces are smooth and void of significant marks, just heavily worn. A rim bruise at CA is the only notable mark. Rare terminal die state, Breen state IV, Heck 6, with strong die cracks that severely weaken the lower half of the 7. This is the plate coin for the die state in the 2022 Heck reference on the die states of 1794 cents (die state 6, page 132). Graded G5 net G4 by Noyes, his photo #61121.  Ex Douglas F.
